Doors

Each beckons
seductive
commanding
demure
imperious
humble
terrifying.
A choice must be
made, they demand.
One is especially
emphatic that
she be the only option
- the one I am least
interested in,
the only one that
does not serve or
promote
my dreams,
needs.
I turn my back
despite the clamorous
protests
stride into
open space
unconfined
true to self.

  1. I am totally drawn to the orange door, something about it screams, "Come walk through me!" I guess it is because I truly cannot remember ever seeing an orange door although I am sure I have but I just cannot remember it. I like all of your descriptions of the doors and I truly can identify with going through a door being a terrifying experience, especially when going out for job interviews. I also like how in the poem you turn your back and stay true to yourself, something that is hard for some of us to learn to do.

Thanks for sharing this fun poem with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. I hope you are having a wonderful week without having to go through any terrifying doors.

    God bless.
