Transitioning blues

I believed in you and who you said you were

I believed in you and who you said you were
but you weren't who you said you were

I believed in you and who you said you were
I believed in you and who you said you were
You said you were a man who liked to 'dress.

I believed in you and who you said you were
I believed in you and who you said you were
And I lovingly accepted you as you said you were

I believed in you and who you said you were
I believed in you and who you said you were
Then you told me the ugly unwelcome truth

I believed in you and who you said you were
I believed in you and who you said you were
Now everything must change to match your sense of self

I believed in you and who you said you were
I believed in you and who you said you were
And your changing has nearly made me lose my self

I believed in you and who you said you were
I believed in you and who you said you were
It's time I believed in me and who I know I am.

  1. Good for you, believe in your self because am sure your beautiful and awesome. Besides you have to be most create people are.

  2. Powerful repetition throughout ... and value validating of truth in the end. I enjoyed reading. Thank you for sharing.

  3. I do like the repetition and then the final line of each stanza to advance the song - it makes it very realistic - you feel like you're stuck in the same-old, same-old, even as you advance forward toward an inevitable conclusion. Well done! Here's my contribution for the week:
