Do you remember
special rose-scented
I do...
mostly my own
Magical first dates
Hoped for engagement
Fairly tale marriage
Surprising birth of daughter
and adoption by her
true father, my husband.
All of our birthdays.
Even the dogs get
remembered in
our home.
The passing of those
dearly missed and
some not so much.
Cinnamon and brown
sugar contentment
permeates our lives.

Tax time storms

Wind fury and chilly snowflakes
mirror the blizzard of paperwork
awaiting order and submission
to tax authorities.
The weather blows on and on
but the reams of documentation
will eventually achieve structure.
Not much room for creativity
in book work, nor does the latter
feed the soul, except in satisfying
the need for order.
Winter has no such compunction.

Ever again

The rage, oh the rage,
coursing through the blood,
the smallest betrayals made
large by blatant disregard for
promises and honesty.
The child weeps for
hopes dashed anew.
How to trust now,
seemingly such a trite phrase,
is a Himalayan dilemma
that cannot be bested
when the team is broken,
so broken.
